What does Caravan Insurance include?

✓ Accidents: Cover for your caravan if it's damaged in an accident.
✓ Fire, storm and flood: Cover for your caravan if it's damaged by fire, storm, flood or tsunami*
✓ Towing: CGU pays for towing to repairer or safe place if your caravan can't be used after an incident CGU covers.
✓ Theft and vandalism: Cover for your caravan if it's stolen, vandalised or accidentally damaged.
✓ Caravan Contents: CGU covers items that are permanently kept in your caravan if they're damaged or stolen in an incident CGU covers (up to $1,000).
✓ Emergency repairs: CGU pays for repairs you need to make after an incident CGU covers so that your caravan's safe to use or tow (up to $800).
✓ New replacement: If your caravan's written off in its first two years, CGU tries to replace it with a similar new caravan.
✓ Storage costs: If your caravan can't be used after a covered incident, CGU will pay for storage until it's repaired or your claim is settled, whichever comes first. 
✓ Food spoilage: Cover for spoiled food and prescription medicine up to $500 if a power outage causes your fridge to stop working.
✓ Temporary accommodation: If your holiday caravan can't be used after a covered incident and you're more than 100kms from home, CGU pays for temporary accommodation (up to $1,000).
✓ Liability cover: CGU covers your legal liability in certain situations if someone's injured or their property's damaged by your caravan (up to $20m)+.

Frequently Asked Questions

Caravan Insurance covers items that are permanently kept inside your caravan, like furniture, bedding and appliances. To cover items you take outside your caravan (like jewellery, phones and laptops), check out Home Contents Insurance.

CGU will cover your touring caravan during the lay up period if you've told CGU and CGU agrees to the use. You'll also need to pay any extra premium that applies.
